Children experience rapid physical changes through infancy and early childhood. Various skills like Fine Motor, Gross Motor and Cognitive skills are the abilities usually acquired during childhood. Early literacy and early numeracy are other two important skill areas that develop during the early childhood period. Research suggests that there are important cognitive connections between early literacy and numeracy skill development that may help us to think more broadly about children’s early academic learning. These two skill areas appear to be related to one another. Sand Play promotes physical development. Large muscle skills develop as children dig, pour, sift, scoop, and clean up spills with brush and dustpan. Sand play also promotes social skills. Rotational classroom activities integrates all these aspects of learning and help in enhancing child development. The classroom is arranged keeping in mind 4-5 stations of learning and children get a chance to move from one station to other after the completion of an activity. This promotes children movement in the classroom and greater understanding of the concepts. Now keeping in mind the weekly class planner, the Educator can setup 4-5 such stations in Preschool and about 5 stations in Kindergarten and primary classrooms.
