The bus stop friendship, four years running
They have never been to each other's houses. It works perfectly.
The Laughing Otter
Every weekday at 7:42, Pat and Lorraine stand at the same bus stop and conduct the world's most reliable catch-up. Weather first, then family, then a full review of whatever Lorraine is reading. They have celebrated birthdays curb-side and once held a two-person minute's silence for Pat's kettle.
Asked why they never exchange numbers, Lorraine shrugged: "Then it would be a plan. This is better. It just happens."
Some friendships thrive on ritual rather than contact details.
