The Friday Porch Concerts That Saved Our Street's Sanity
One guitarist, a folding chair, and a whole street that needed a reason to smile.
The Laughing Otter

Every Friday at 6pm, Marcus's neighbour Elena sets up a folding chair on her porch and plays guitar for an hour. It started as a way to check on isolated neighbours; it has become the street's beating heart. People bring camp chairs, kids dance on the nature strip, and someone always brings cheese. Requests are shouted; Wonderwall is banned by popular vote. "I am not a performer," Elena insists. "I am a bookmark at the end of everyone's week."
Does your street have a ritual that holds it together?
