A choir of retired fishermen will fix your week

They meet on Tuesdays. The pub has stopped charging them.

The Laughing Otter
A group of jovial older men singing sea shanties in a cosy pub

The Harbour Lights are fourteen retired fishermen, one accordion, and harmonies rough enough to be perfect. They started singing to pass the winter; now the Tuesday session at the local has a waiting list for chairs.

Their repertoire is sea shanties, one suspiciously emotional love song, and a finale where the audience is contractually obligated to join in. Nobody remembers the words. Everybody remembers how it feels.

Proof that community does not need a committee. Sometimes it just needs a chorus.

What song gets a whole room singing in your world?
