Cold water, warm people, and a thermos of tea on the sand.
The Laughing Otter
They meet at 6am, shriek for the first ninety seconds, then stand about in chest-deep water talking absolute nonsense until someone remembers they have work. Ages range from 19 to 74. There is a thermos rota, which is taken very seriously.
Nobody joined for the swimming. They joined for the standing about afterwards, which is the part that keeps them coming back.
