Eleven years of notes in a lunchbox

One folded note a day, every school day, for over a decade.

A dad started slipping a note into his daughter's lunchbox on her first day of school. Nothing profound: a joke, a doodle, "good luck with spelling". He kept going for eleven years.

She kept every one of them in a shoebox. At her eighteenth she read a handful out and nobody in the room stayed dry-eyed, including the dog.
