Learning ukulele badly, together, on purpose

Eight beginners, one garage, zero shame — and it is working.

The Thursday night ukulele group has one founding principle: nobody is allowed to be good. It removes the pressure and, confusingly, makes everyone improve faster.

Meetings are half practice, half laughing at the chord that went wrong. Their setlist is three songs and one song they have been "nearly finishing" since March. They have been asked to play the school fete, which they describe as "a clerical error we intend to honour."

What would you learn if being bad at it first was completely fine?
