Pumpkin Spice Season Just Got Haunted (in the Most Delightful Way Possible)
Grab a warm mug and test your cozy-season focus—there are three little phantoms sneaking around the whipped cream.

Cozy Season Calls for Ghost Hunting
It is officially that time of year when the air turns crisp, sweaters come out of storage, and our beverage choices shift dramatically toward warm, spiced goodness. But while most of us are content just sipping our cozy drinks, illustrator Gergely Dudás—known to visual puzzle fans everywhere as Dudolf—decided autumn needed a little extra mischief.
He crafted a delightful fall illustration that challenges viewers to spot three tiny ghost figures hidden among colorful mugs, swirly whipped cream tops, and slices of seasonal pie. The hidden phantoms are situated near the foam tops and nestled between bright coffee cups, blending right into the sea of autumn treats.
A Spiced History Lesson
While you scan the foam for spectral visitors, it is worth remembering how deep our seasonal spice obsession actually goes. The earliest recorded pumpkin pie spice blend appeared in Amelia Simmons's 1796 book American Cookery. Back then, the featured ingredient was charmingly spelled "pompkin."
Fast forward to 2003, when Starbucks introduced its iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte to the world. Here is the twist: for the first twelve years of its wild popularity, the drink did not contain a single drop of actual pumpkin. It was strictly a flavor craft of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. Real pumpkin puree did not join the official syrup recipe until 2015.
The Otterly Interesting Part
There is something wonderfully soothing about combining autumn comforts with a gentle visual puzzle. Our brains love looking for patterns—especially when those patterns take the form of cute little phantoms hanging out around baked goods. It turns out that searching for phantom coffee crashers is the ultimate low-stakes way to kick back on a chilly afternoon.
Did You Find Them All?
Whether you spotted all three hidden ghosts instantly or found yourself mesmerized by the cartoon slices of pie, taking a quick break for cozy visual puzzles is a great reminder to slow down and enjoy the season. Did the whipped cream disguise them, or did your ghost-hunting skills prevail?
